REAL reasons why everyone’s buying the Jeep Compass SUV , II Video: Here’s what BSF soldiers will perform on the Royal Enfield Bullet this Republic Day

The Jeep Compass SUV has outsold the Mahindra XUV500 and the Tata Hexa for 2 consecutive months. And sales have been climbing consistently, month on month. With more variants to be introduced next month, the Compass is likely to continue its good run in the coming months, too. But why’s everyone buying India’s lowest priced Jeep? We tell you!

Fresh!

Yes, the Compass is totally fresh, and looks way more contemporary than established competition – the Mahindra XUV500 and the Tata Hexa. For buyers who seek something new and novel on Indian roads, the Jeep SUV is ticking all the right boxes.

Sweet pricing…

.

Jeep has positioned the Compass to target a wide range of SUVs. At the lower end, the Jeep SUV starts just over Rs. 15 lakhs – tempting Hyundai Creta buyers while the higher-end variants of the SUV take on the Mahindra XUV500. The arrival of the Compass has obliterated sales of the Hyundai Tucson, which starts from about 18 lakh rupees. This 3 lakh rupee price difference is what’s driving Compass sales, and that’s exactly what ‘sweet pricing’ is all about.

Feature loaded

In terms of safety features and creature comforts on offer, the Compass is right up there. From 6 airbags, ABS, ESP, traction control and hill-hold assist to even a four wheel drive system on the top-end diesel variants, the Compass caters to a wide audience, at multiple price levels.

Petrol & diesel options

A lot of SUV buyers in India are opting for petrol engined models. Jeep offers both petrol and diesel engine options on the Compass sold in India, widening the target set of buyers. In fact, Mahindra has even responded with the XUV500 Petrol, but the Compass has a big advantage over competition as it offers a turbopetrol engine with 160 Bhp-250 Nm, and a quick shifting 7 speed twin clutch automatic gearbox as an option.
Every year on the Republic Day parade, the BSF (border security force) and the Indian Army take turns to perform daredevils act on the good old Royal Enfield Bullet. This year, it’s the turn of the BSF team to do the honors and it’s not just the men in uniform, but also a 27 member women team that will debut on Rajpath on January 26.

As per reports, members of this special women bikers’ squad, aged between 25-30 years, have been specially chosen by BSF trainers. These members are from various combat ranks of the force and will be performing various daredevil acts on the motorcycle.
The team is currently undergoing extensive practice sessions to make sure every single act is performed without a glitch. The location seems to be Dwarka in New Delhi. Various videos have emerged online and clearly showcase the immense talent in the team. Our big salute to these brave women.

The Royal Enfield Bullet (standard 350/500cc) seems to be the favorite pick for such acts since decades now. Credit for this goes to its rigid frame and high torque at lower engine speeds that allows it to carry forward a huge payload easily. The BSF (Border Security Force) men’s team is also practicing side by side as seen in the video below.
The biggest formation act uses 9 bikes and almost 40 men! These soldiers will also perform on the Republic Day parade, an annual event that is attended by the highest political ranks and seen by millions of Indians via LIVE telecast.

The Royal Enfield Bullet is the standard pick of the armed forces for stunt displays. The older 500cc, cast iron Bullets are still being used by various stunt teams of the armed forces. Eventually, these motorcycles are likely to be replaced by newer, unit construction engined Royal Enfields.
