HMD Global will announce the new Nokia X aka Nokia X6 on May 16 in China. Just a day before the official unveiling of the device, the Nokia X6 has been listed online by Chinese retailer Suning, which reveals its price and specifications. The leak suggests that the smartphone will be priced around CNY 1,499 (approximately Rs 16,000) for the 3GB RAM variant. At the moment, there is no information provided about the price of the 4GB RAM or 6GB RAM variant.
In terms of rumoured specifications, the device will feature a 5.8-inch display with a 1080 x 2280 pixel resolution and an aspect ratio of 19:9. It will be powered by a Snapdragon 636 octa-core processor with 3GB/4GB or 6GB RAM.
Running Android 8.1 Oreo operating system out-of-the-box, the device will feature a dual-camera setup – 16MP primary sensor and a 5MP secondary sensor. It will also include a 16MP front-facing camera. A TENNA listing had also revealed that the Nokia X6 will be packed up by a 3000mAh battery.
Recently, the Nokia 6.1 or Nokia 6 (2018) went on sale in India. The 4GB RAM, 64GB storage variant is priced at Rs 18,999 and will be available via Amazon India. The 3GB RAM, 32GB storage variant has been available for a while now and is priced at Rs 16,999.
In terms of specifications, the device features a 5.5-inch IPS display with a full-HD display with a 1080x1920 pixels resolution. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 processor paired with 4GB of RAM. It will include an internal storage of 64GB, and is upgradable via a microSD card slot up to 128GB.
The smartphone comes equipped with a 16MP rear camera with autofocus, f/2.0 aperture and a dual-tone LED flash. It also includes an 8MP front-facing camera. Connectivity features include 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, Bluetooth v5, GPS/ A-GPS and USB Type-C. A 3,000mAh battery completes the package.
HMD Global is set to launch the Nokia X-series smartphone on Wednesday, May 16, however the company hasn’t abandoned plans to refresh last year’s models. Hints that the Nokia 3 (2018) or Nokia 3.1 is in testing have surfaced online indicating that the refresh is in the offing. What is welcome news is that Android P update is coming to Nokia 5 and Nokia 6(2017) handsets. Sarvikas replied to a Twitter query confirming that last year’s Nokia 5 and Nokia 6 are going to get Android P whenever it arrives. This is in line with Nokia’s promise of two years software support and timely updates. Android P will bring UI changes, new navigation method, adaptive brightness, adaptive battery, app actions, and reimagined audio controls.
This year, Nokia has launched the Nokia 6.1 or Nokia 6 (2018), and the 4GB RAM variant is available on Amazon for Rs. 18,999. Going by the images and posters leaked online, the highlight of the Nokia X6 is the emulation of the display notch on the front; something that Nokia has steered clear off in the past. We tried searching the original listing on the Chinese retail website Suning.com and were unable to access it, and hence cannot confirm whether the price is genuine.

According to the promotional images, the Nokia X6 will have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 chipset and will be available in 3 GB, 4 GB and 6 GB RAM variants. The display is a 5.8-inch Full HD+ resolution with 19:9 ratio and a notch at the top end. The notch contains a camera, a tiny earpiece and a proximity sensor.
The primary camera comprises of a dual camera setup with a 16 MP + 5 MP units. This dual setup supports HDR and AI. The front-facing camera features a 16 MP sensor with an “intelligent 3D blur”.
In terms of connectivity, the phone has dual SIM slots along with a micro-SD card slot. Apart from that, the phone features Wi-Fi a/b/g/n and a fingerprint sensor mounted on the rear. Powering the device is a non-removable Li-Ion 3060 mAh battery and the phone is expected to run Android Oreo.
