Volvo's full lineup transformation continues for 2018 with several new models. The highlight this year is arguably the brand's XC60 compact crossover. If you're familiar with the groundbreaking XC90 that debuted a couple of years ago, you can take that idea and leave it in the dryer for too long.

The XC60 uses the same engines and tech as the XC90, but discards with the third row of seats and features a more manageable size for urban use.

Elsewhere, Volvo's V90 wagon lineup does what the automaker still knows best. The V90 Cross Country variant features a little more ground clearance and the chunky design elements consumers demand, plus it's actually stocked in dealers. The standard V90 is a special order-only affair.

Elsewhere, Volvo stretched the S90 sedan's wheelbase for more rear-seat legroom.

In early 2018, a smaller crossover—the XC40—will show up as an early 2019 model.

2018 Volvo XC90

1. The second-generation Volvo XC60 introduced early this year at the Geneva Motor Show, while its production began in Sweden in April.
2. The new XC60 is the third model from the Swedish car maker to be based on the Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) platform that currently underpins the company's flagship SUV, Volvo XC90 and the S90 sedan.

    Swedish car maker, Volvo will launch the second-generation XC60 in India tomorrow. The 2018 edition has taken its design inspiration from its siblings XC90 and S90 and it is based on Volvo’s Scalable Product Architecture or Spa for short. The India bound SUV will be available in a stand-alone variant 'Inscription' and is likely to be manufactured locally at Volvo's Bangalore plant. Under the hood, the new XC60 get the same 2.0-litre engine that does duty on larger SUV, XC90. The engine produces 235 hp of power and 480nm of torque.The engine is mated to an a eight-speed automatic transmission and the all-wheel-drive system as standard. It is expected that company might introduce T6 petrol engine and T8 petrol hybrid motor in the XC60 at later stages. The SUV comes with a five drive modes-Eco, Comfort, off-road, Dynamic and Individual. Inside the cabin, the SUV gets features such as touch-screen infotainment system compatible with in-built navigation and supports both Apple Car Play and Google’s Android Auto.

    In addition, it gets Bowers & Wilkins music system with 15 speakers Nappa leather upholstery, Powered front seats with memory function and Panoramic Sunroof. The XC60 gets an active and passive safety features such as six airbags, Emergency brake assist, Hill start assist, Heads up display and Pilot assist. The XC60 comes equipped with radar-based safety features like other Volvo cars in India. Dimensionally the SUV measures 4,688 mm in length, 1,902 mm in width, 1,658 in height and has a wheelbase of 2,865mm.

    As for the prices, Volvo XC60 is expected to be launch in a price range Rs 55 lakh to Rs 60 lakh (ex-showroom).When launched the car will compete with the likes of with the AudiQ5 and Mercedes-Benz GLC.
