Gionee on Friday launched a new smartphone focused on selfie enthusiasts in India. Called Gionee S10 Lite, the smartphone will go on sale on December 23 for Rs 15,999.

One of the key features of Gionee S10 Lite is a ‘WhatsApp clone ‘feature, which allows users to operate three different WhatsApp accounts on the phone. It also supports split-screen and has an eye-protection feature that is essentially a blue light filter that is aimed at protecting eyes from strain and is said to reduce fatigue.

“By strengthening our ‘S’ Series we aim to keep up with the growing demand for high quality smartphones with superior photography capabilities,” David Chang, Global Sales Director, Gionee India, said in a statement.

Gionee India has also joined hands with PayTm and Jio offer S10 Lite customers two PayTM Cashback Voucher Codes with Rs 250 cashback on a base buy of Rs 350 from Paytm Mall. New or existing Jio Customers who purchase S10 Lite will get 5 GB data each month for a period of 10 months on any data recharge of Rs 309 and above.

Gionee S10 Lite: Specifications, features

The smartphone has a 5.2-inch HD display. The device houses a 3,100mAh battery and finger-print sensor.

Gionee S10 Lite sports a 16-megapixel selfie camera with “group selfie” and “bokeh selfie” features. The device comes with a 13-megapixel primary camera with auto-focus (AF) and flash.

The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8920 platform with 4GB RAM and 32GB internal storage which can be expanded up to 256GB.

S10 Lite runs Gionee’s custom Amigo 4.0 operating system (OS) based on Android 7.1 Nougat. The device will be available in gold and black colours from December 23.

The newly launched Gionee S10 Lite is the successor of the Gionee S10 which was launched in India back in the month of May this year. The smartphone comes with a 5.2-inch HD display with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution. Apart from the front camera, the battery of the S10 Lite is another striking feature of the phone. The S10 Lite is backed by a 3100mAh battery which comes along with fingerprint sensor -- which as Gionee claims is "lightning fast". The 3100mAh battery comes with an integrated software and hardware solution which is capable of offering long battery life and seamless user experience.

On the camera department, the new Gionee selfie-focused phone comes with a 13-megapixel camera on the back which comes coupled with an LED Flash. While on the front, the smartphone includes a 16-megapixel selfie camera coupled with a LED flash and several camera modes like -- bokeh and group selfies. The phone also comes with an independent facial enhancement algorithm that automatically detects a user's face and applies custom beauty settings. It is also "powered by 4-cell technology, the front camera captures more light than before resulting clearer and more beautiful selfie," notes Gionee.

The device is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon Mobile Platform -- Quad-core 1.4GHz. The company says that the processor "enhances the photo taking experience with outstanding computing power." On the software front, the smartphone runs on Gionee Amigo 4.0 based on Android 7.1 Nougat which allow the users to multi-task via the split screen feature. It comes paired with 4GB RAM and 32GB of internal storage which is further expandable up to 256GB via a microSD card.

This selfie-centric smartphone by Gionee comes along with a WhatsApp clone feature that enables users to create three WhatsApp accounts, and allow them to differentiate their personal and professional life.
